Marvin Sapp Never Would Have Made It

Sapp released the lead song off his seventh studio album Thirsty, “Never Would Have Made It.” Sapp wrote this song as an ode to his late father, Henry Lewis Sapp, Jr.  Sapp and a group of actors make brief appearances in the song video from 2008. Throughout the video, scenes change and the plot is repeatedly referenced. Sapp makes an entrance in the first scene, which takes place in an auditorium before moving to a balcony.

The 16th Street Baptist Church, the scene of a bombing during the Civil Rights period, is the location of the first of the scenes that alternate. Throughout the conversation, the setting switches to a preacher delivering a sermon from the pulpit. In the second scene, three young women are shown grieving at a graveyard.
