This made La Liga giants, Barcelona sign him for around 2.8 million Euros. Lineker scored 52 goals in 138 appearances for Barcelona and was later sold to Tottenham Hotspurs in 1989. He scored a total of 80 goals after 138 appearances. Gary finally signed for Nagaya Grampus Eight in 1992 and scored 8 goals after 24 appearances.
He retired from professional football in September 1994 having played for Nagaya only two seasons, this was because of the impact of the injuries he received. Furthermore, Gary Lineker won 80 caps for his national team and country bagging a total of 48 goals during which he received the 1986 Golden Boot in the World Cup tournament.
