At Escuela Infantil Guardia Real, the daycare center for the children of the Spanish Royal Guard, Leonor began her formal education. On September 15, 2008, she enrolled in her first year of elementary school at the Santa Mara de los Rosales School in Aravaca, a town outside of Madrid.

Her younger sister, Sofa, is a student there, as is her father, who attended the exclusive school. Leonor has studied Mandarin and speaks both Spanish and English with ease.
