Ron Lieber was born in 1971. He is an American journalist for The New York Times. He writes the “Your Money” column. Previously he wrote the “Green Thumb” which is the column for the Wall Street Journal. Lieber began his career in 1993 when he worked for Lawyers Weekly USA in Boston as a reporter. He joined the Wall Street Journal in 2002. Felsenthal hired him as a founding member of the personal journal team.

Lieber grew up in Chicago, Illinois where he attended grade school at Francis W. Parker School for 14 years. He was a scholarship student at this private school after his parents divorced. Lieber attended Amherst College on scholarship and financial aid. He was inspired to write for the students, the school Alumni magazine. The inspiration came after reading Chris Miller’s publication. Lieber interned with the Daily Hampshire Gazette for three months. He had high expectations of living in Chicago after His graduation in 1993. He graduated with a BA degree in American Studies.

Ron Lieber began his career in 1993, reporting for Lawyers Weekly USA in Boston. Later, he moved to work as a staff reporter for Fast company and Fortune. He joined The Wall Street Journal in 2002. He left in 2007 having written for “Green Thumb” Managing-your-money column.

In 2007, Lieber joined FiLife as managing editor. FiLife and a Joint venture of Dow Jones and IAC. All these were personal finance websites aiming young readers. In addition, she joined The New York Times after she left FiLife in 2008. Today he writes “Your Money” as a financial columnist. This earned him three Gerald Loeb awards.
