Apollo Chen is a Taiwanese journalist originally known as Chen Shei-saint. Chen was born on 28 September 1957 and is a Taiwanese journalist and politician.

Chen was born in Taipei, Chen attended Jianguo  High School. He joined  National Taiwan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. His ambition to further his studies made him join Tamkang University to pursue his masters degree program. Chen later was employed by China Daily News and China Times and was also a television anchor on Asia Television.

Apollo Chen as a politician

In 2012, he returned to the House of Representatives. In 2014, Mr. Chen was suspended by the KMT for voting against the Land Agent Law. However, censorship did not prevent him from running for re-election in 2016. Initially, it was reported that Chen Hsu defeated Ching-wen with 390 votes. A recount by the Taoyuan District Court showed Mr. Chen winning by a margin of 389 votes against him. Before, Chen served as a member of the Taipei City Council from 1991 to 1998.

During the 2000 presidential election, he served as the spokesperson for the consecutive elections, during which he served as director of the Taoyuan County Cultural Affairs Bureau. In the 2010 Taoyuan County by-election, he again ran for the legislative branch with the support of the Kuomintang, losing to Huang Inshu by about 3,000 votes.
