Clive Myrie is an English journalist born on August 25, 1964. He is currently working for BBC News as a journalist and presenter. Myrie was born to parents who migrated from Jamaica in the 1960s.

Myrie has worked for BBC since 2021 where he has been the host of the long-running BBC quiz shows Mastermind and Celebrity Mastermind.

They were residents of Bolton, England’s Lancashire. His uncle Cecil drove explosives for the Royal Air Force throughout the war. While his mother worked as a seamstress for Mary Quant, his father Norris was employed in a business that produced carpet and car batteries. His father returned to Jamaica upon his retirement. We don’t know why his parents split, even if they did.

Myrie attended the Hayward Grammar School in Bolton for his studies. He thereafter moved to Bolton Sixth Form College, where he completed his A-level studies. Clive continued his studies by enrolling in the University of Sussex, from which he graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Laws.

While still attending school, he played the violin and trumpet in the town youth orchestra. “So What” by Miles Davis was one of his inheritance tracks when he made his appearance on Saturday Live in February 2022.

Catherine Myrie, an upholsterer and furniture restorer, is married to Myrie. The couple met in 1992 at a London book publication around Swiss Cheeses. His wife was working for the publishing company. Myrie claimed his wife had “given me the strength and room to pursue my aspirations.”According to Myrie, his wife “gave me the courage and space to pursue my dreams.”

Myrie started working at the BBC in 1987 as a reporter on a local radio program for new journalists. He started working for the BBC again in 1988 after working at Independent Radio News. At first, he was a reporter for Radio Bristol. After that, he reported news for BBC TV and Radio News and then worked for Points West.

He started working for the BBC in 1996 and has reported from over 80 countries. Before he moved to Los Angeles from 1997 to 1999, he worked as the BBC’s correspondent in Tokyo.

In March 2003, Myrie was a reporter who went with the 40 Commando Royal Marines during the coalition forces’ invasion of Iraq. When they were doing work on the Al-Faw Peninsula, he first went with them on the ship HMS Ocean.

Myrie has been the target of racial abuse. This has been a very extreme experience in his career as a news presenter. He has also received death threats. The worst experience is that he has been a letter gorilla on the front that said, “We don’t want people like you on our TV screens.”

He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Staffordshire University in 2016. Has a “Doctor of the University” degree from the University of Sussex in 2019.

Myrie wins Television Journalism of the year

Myrie won “Television Journalist of the Year” and “Network Presenter of the Year” at the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2021. Where received the honors “for his diverse, measured, and captivating style.”

Myrie has received a number of nominations for his work, most notably for his participation in the BBC team that was nominated for a Bafta for its coverage of the Mozambique floods in 2000. In addition, also received a nomination for the coverage of the ethnic strife on the island of Borneo, and he received the Bayeux-Calvados Award for war correspondents.
