David Faber Biography
David Faber is a co-anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” (M-F, 9 AM-12 PM ET) and a co-producer of the network’s celebrated original documentaries and long-form programming. He is also a New York Times best-selling book.
During the day, during the “Faber Report,” Faber breaks news and offers in-depth commentary on a variety of business themes. In the more than two decades that he has spent working for CNBC, Faber has broken a number of significant financial stories, such as the agreement for Disney to purchase the majority of Twenty-First Century Fox’s assets, the massive fraud at WorldCom, and Rupert Murdoch’s unsolicited bid for Dow Jones.
Career
For his reporting on ten documentaries for CNBC, Faber has won Loeb, Emmy, Peabody, and duPont prizes.
His first book, “The Faber Report,” was released by Little, Brown in the spring of 2002; “And Then the Roof Caved In,” his second book, was released by John Wiley in the summer of 2009.
After working at Institutional Investor for seven years, Faber joined CNBC in 1993. His coworkers at CNBC have called him “The Brain,” and he has hosted multiple documentaries on businesses like Wal-Mart and eBay. Faber won a 2005 Peabody Award and an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for Broadcast Journalism for The Age of Walmart. For “House of Cards,” he received a portion of the Gerald Loeb Prize for Television Enterprise Business Journalism in 2010.
Faber also presents the network’s monthly show Business Nation, which started on January 24, 2007, in addition to Squawk on the Street.
