Fares was born on April 29, 1973, in Beirut, Lebanon. His family moved to Sweden in 1987 to escape the Lebanese Civil War.

Fares Fares started acting in a local theater group in Örebro when he was 15 years old. He attended drama school in Mölnlycke near Gothenburg when he was 19.

He started acting in movies in 2000 with a comedy called Jalla. Jalla which was directed by his brother Josef Fares. He was in his brother’s movies Kopps, Zozo, and Leo.

He also acted in the historical movie Child 44 (2014) with Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman. Also was in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, playing the character Senator Vaspar.

He was in the Department Q series, which was based on books by Jussi Adler-Olsen. He also acted as Assad, a Syrian immigrant who helps a detective solve old cases. The series has four movies.
