Since then he has worked with a number of different media groups including WTTG-TV, WBIR-TV in Knoxville,Tennessee, CBS News in New York and Atalanta, WBBM-TV in Chicago, and CNN News. Acosta covered the 2004 campaign for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, Iraq war from Baghdad and Hurricane Katrina while still working with CBS News.
He later joined CNN News in 2007. In 2008, Jim covered the campaign for Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. In 2012 he was promoted to the post of national correspondent and thereafter became the senior White House correspondent. During Barack Obama and Donald Trump’s administration Acosta used to question their strategies and for this he was very much praised by liberals. At this time he had already become the chief White House correspondent for CNN News. Acosta was then given a new role as the chief domestic correspondent for CNN News. A move that was announced in January 2021 by CNN because it aligned with Joe Biden’s administration. Jim holds this post up to date.
