Joyce Vance Biography
Joyce Vance served in the Department of Justice during the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. She led a number of high-profile investigations, including the prosecution of two former state representatives for corruption; the prosecution of the former Director of the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives for bribery and fraud;
The prosecution of a former Alabama legislator for obstruction of justice; and the prosecution of 24 defendants for mortgage fraud. Vance held the position of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 until 2017. She was one of the first five U.S. Attorneys appointed by President Barack Obama and the first female U.S. Attorney.

Joyce graduated from Mark Keppel High School in Los Angeles, California. She then went on to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Magna cum Laude in 1982. After that, she attended the University of Virginia School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1985.
