Is Ron DeSantis going to be a Republican candidate?

likelihood of winning
He most likely doesn’t. However, if he can make it through the early caucuses and primaries as the preferred candidate of the GOP’s small but significant “never-Trump” faction, he might be a key player in the middle of the primary season to influence his voters’ choice of a rival.

Probability of Losing
Being irrelevant in the election poses a risk to Pence. Although probably not with the same gravitas as the former vice president, other contenders will also attack Trump. DeSantis and Haley among others in that group won’t have Pence’s low ceiling.
