Guthrie was appointed as the co-host of Today’s third hour alongside Natalie Morales and Al Roker after working as a White House correspondent from 2008 to 2011 and as co-anchor of the MSNBC program The Daily Rundown in 2010 and 2011.

Before moving back to Tucson and taking a position with NBC station KVOA in 1995, Guthrie’s first career in broadcasting was at ABC affiliate KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked for two years. After working for five years in Arizona, she accepted a position at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., where she covered important topics like the 9/11 Pentagon attack and the 2001 anthrax attacks.
