John Piper is an American theologian, pastor, and author. He was born on January 11, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He grew up in Greenville, South Carolina and graduated from Wheaton College in 1968.
Career
Piper served as the pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 33 years. During his tenure, the church grew to over 4,000 members and became known for its focus on the centrality of God and His sovereignty in all things. Piper is also a prolific author, having written over 50 books, including “Desiring God” and “Don’t Waste Your Life”.
