Travis King similarly known as Travis T. King, a soldier in the United States Army, went into North Korea on 18 July 2023 when he was on a civilian tour of the Korean Demilitarized Zone. He was in danger of being kicked out of the army because of legal troubles in South Korea, where he was stationed.
Travis King Career
King joined the US Army in January 2021. He joined as a cavalry scout and was assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division. They arrived in South Korea in February 2022.
On September 4, 2022, King didn’t show up for his regular meeting at Camp Bonifas. He was eventually located in Uijeongbu and said that he didn’t want to go back to his duty or America.
On September 25, 2022, King hit a man from South Korea many times in the face at a club in Seoul. The person who was hurt did not accuse anyone, and the court in Seoul stopped investigating the incident.
On September 27, 2023, the media in North Korea said that King will be sent away and given back to the United States.
Afterwards, King was taken by the US without any request from North Korea. He was first moved to a city called Dandong which is on the border with China. Then, he was flown to a military air base called Osan in South Korea.
